Did you see? Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum were riding a BMX bike together in New York. Not an everyday occurrence, but a magical one. In the photos they’re laughing, and as I’m looking at the photos I’m laughing. It’s just one of those unexpected celebrity combos that brings only delight and joy when you think of it. He, a himbo, a hot lug who’s quick to laugh and completely sweet. She, a beautiful, talented daughter of beautiful, talented people. You know them both well, but would have had no real reason to think of them together and riding a BMX bike in New York City. What a thrill.
I don’t even care if these two are dating or not. Wonderful for them if they are, but it would also be great if they were just palling around the city together. It would be doubly great if they were starring in some buddy BMX bike comedy. They have to go to nationals! There’s a falling out, but then they make up, and at some point, Tatum tells Kravitz, “Hop on, bro,” and she does, and they ride off into a sunset. Would watch!
The pair (again no one has confirmed dating) reportedly met on Pussy Island, which I imagine lives in a universe equal and opposite of Fire Island. This is not an actual place, but a thriller that Kravitz cowrote and directed that plays with gender and wealth politics. “Chan was my first choice, the one I thought of when I wrote this character,” she told Deadline in June. “I just knew from Magic Mike and his live shows, I got the sense he’s a true feminist and I wanted to collaborate with someone who was clearly interested in exploring this subject matter.”
Might I just add…Chan! You know, we never quite got the hot vax summer we had all hoped for, but we do have this: Two hot people enjoying each other’s company in the presence of a photographer and BMX bike.
