“Greater Evansville Figure Skating Club is excited to give everyone in our hometown the opportunity to watch the sport of synchronized figure skating live,” said Kelli Mann and Jill Plough, co-chairs of the competition.
The Greater Evansville Figure Skating Club helps the development of figure skaters in Evansville and the surrounding area. When skaters join the club, they also become members of the United States Figure Skating Association.
With Swonder hosting the competition, the club estimates that it will bring in $420,000 economic impact to the Evansville/Vanderburgh Country area, including 800 hotel room nights.
“The Greater Evansville Figure Skating club not only champions the future of figure skating in our area, but it is much needed economic impact to our city, hotels, venues, restaurants and other locally owned businesses,” says Laura Peck, senior sales manager at Visit Evansville.
