Watch UFC Star Francis Ngannou Punch BMX Pro Ryan Williams in the Chest – menshealth.com

Francis Ngannou packs one hell of a punch. And that’s not just a figure of speech: the UFC’s currently reigning Heavyweight Champion set the world record for the most powerful punch ever recorded on a PowerKube in 2017, with a striking power of 129,161 units. If you need a frame of reference for just how hard that is, the former World’s Strongest Man turned boxer Eddie Hall recently tried to outdo that figure, but maxed out at 113,999.

All of which is to say, if you can avoid getting hit by Ngannou, you really, really should. Of course, if people only ever did what was good for them, that would make life a lot less interesting, and so in a new video on his YouTube channel, Ngannou offers to coach Australian BMX rider and all-round action sport athlete Ryan Williams through an MMA workout.

“I ride a scooter, I ride a BMX bike,” says Williams. “I do not do anything that involves mixed martial arts… I’ve never thrown a punch in my whole life.”

Ngannou starts Williams off with clap pushups, jump squats and situps (3 sets of 10 reps on each exercise), before letting him loose on the punchbag and giving him some pointers on punching technique. Then it’s time for them both to step into the octagon.

Williams dons some heavy-duty protective gear, because while he’s a thrill-seeker he’s not stupid, and Ngannou goes incredibly easy on him for their first sparring session. But then Williams volunteers for the “body shot challenge,” meaning getting hit square in the chest by one of the most powerful punchers in the world. As literally anybody could have predicted, this ends in Williams getting knocked to the ground instantly.

“I stayed alive,” he says. “That was the main goal, and I kind of did.”
