Patriot League Names Maria Trivelpiece as Multimedia Journalist – Patriot League Official Athletic Site

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced Maria Trivelpiece as the League’s Multimedia Journalist. She joins the League staff after spending time as a sports/news reporter and anchor at WAGM-TV in Maine and working as a sideline reporter and color analyst at the Big East Digital Network (BEDN).
 
Trivelpiece (TRY-vull-PEACE) will serve as the Patriot League’s primary on-camera host in addition to producing stories that feature programs, current and past student-athletes and coaches within the League’s membership. In her new role, she will be a regular contributor on the League’s social media platforms. She will also serve as a correspondent at select League championships while assisting the League office staff in championship administration and marketing activities.
 
“Maria is a proven storyteller, and we are thrilled for her to join the Patriot League staff as our multimedia journalist,” Patriot League Commissioner Jennifer Heppel said. “Her talent, creativity and experience will serve her well in helping continue the League’s tradition of presenting our student-athletes and programs to a wide audience.”
 
“I am so excited to join the Patriot League as a multimedia journalist,” Trivelpiece said. “I have always had such a passion for collegiate athletics and storytelling, and I cannot wait to share the stories of these incredible student-athletes and all of their work both on and off the field.”
 
Before joining the Patriot League staff, Trivelpiece was a sports and news multimedia journalist at WAGM-TV in Presque Isle, Maine. She also anchored the nightly 10 p.m. sportscast. In addition to her role at WAGM-TV, she provided commentary for the 2021 Big East Softball Championship on the BEDN and served as a sideline reporter for the tournament on Fox Sports broadcasts.
 
Trivelpiece was also a production associate at the ACC Network, working on ACC studio pregame, halftime and postgame shows for women’s basketball broadcasts. In addition, she interned with WPRI-TV in Providence, R.I., where she wrote, reported and produced news packages on the New England Patriots.
 
As an undergraduate at Fordham, Trivelpiece spent four years as a sports reporter on WFUV Radio, where she wrote and read score updates in addition to serving as the Monday morning drive-time sportscast anchor for two years. She also spent a summer as a reporter and photographer with the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.
 
Trivelpiece was a four-year letterwinner and senior team captain on the Fordham softball team. She earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and All-Academic Team honors in 2019, in addition to making the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll three times. The three-year starting outfielder posted a .309 career batting average and a .389 on-base percentage during her career in the Bronx.
 
A Sugarloaf, Pa., native, Trivelpiece graduated from Fordham University with her Bachelor of Arts in journalism and psychology. She received her Bachelor of Science in broadcast and digital journalism with a concentration in sports communications from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
