El Paso youth on the far West Side should be excited about two new tenants coming to the Outlet Shoppes at El Paso — a skating rink and a haunted house.
Construction is currently underway for the Skate, Rattle & Roll rink, that will be in front of Ann Taylor, at the mall’s southeast entrance.
El Pasoan Annette Rodriguez said “It’s going to be fun and about trying to have more activities for the community on the West Side. It’s a high traffic area and kind of the center of the West Side, accommodating the Upper Valley, Sunland Park area and Canutillo. We’re super excited about it.”
Rodriguez said she hopes it’s able to be open soon.
The business will have an arcade with about 20 to 25 different games, a toddler zone, two party rooms and a selfie section with photo booths. The business cannot serve food because the mall has a food court so it will have vending machines.
The other business coming to the Outlets is The Asylum, a haunted house.
Danny Vazquez, who’s been in the Los Angeles design and production business for 20 years, said the haunted house will take up about 8,000 square feet with several rooms. And each room will have its own theme and crazy patients.
Vasquez, who owns Bright Ideas of Beverly Hills Design & Productions, said the attraction is scheduled to open Sept. 3, which may seem early in El Paso but is about the right time when many Halloween attractions open in California.
“It will be open seven days a week, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. through the first week of November, for those who didn’t get a chance to come through it,” he said.
The haunted house will be geared toward 13 and up with plenty of blood and gore and professional Hollywood-style props.
