Summer Total Fitness Challenge kicks off Tuesday: Here’s what you need to know – SILive.com

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Assemblyman Michael Cusick (D-Mid-Island) will kick off the annual Total Fitness Challenge — a summer-long competition where students and their schools earn points by reading and exercising on a daily basis — on Tuesday.

“We are very excited to be able to once again hold in-person Total Fitness Challenge Events,” said Cusick. “I established the Total Fitness Challenge to encourage our students to stay both physically and academically active throughout the summer, and it is more important now than ever. We have several great events planned for this summer.”

The Total Fitness Challenge includes students attending activity days throughout the summer.

It will kick off on Tuesday with a soccer event in partnership with the CSI Men’s Soccer team from 10 a.m. to noon at the Greenbelt Field, located at 501 Brielle Ave. in Sea View.

It’s open to all Staten Island students from kindergarten to eighth grade. Awards are presented each year for each grade’s highest point earner and for the highest-earning schools.

Elementary students who wish to participate in the Summer Total Fitness Challenge can obtain a brochure at their school. Students planning to attend should RSVP to cusickrsvp@gmail.com.
